Quad Chamfer is a 3Ds Max 2010/2011/2012 script that produce all quad chamfers, unlike the normal 3ds Max chamfer which produces a lot of triangles.
Here are some of the benefits you get:
•You get better results if you use Quad Chamfer in conjunction with turbosmooth
•No more unwanted pinching
•Great topology
•And many more other benefits over the normal chamfer

In the next few days, if I send you a model, will it be OK for you test on it, both Reversion and Quad? You can also use that model to show any other tools you might develop on it since I tend to create models in a...certain way.
Other then that, Kudos.
Looking gorgeous btw!!
Theres a lot of benefit to doing co-planeing without deforming the leading edge, and would be nice to include.
Ace-Angel You can send me model to test the script on, I will make some videos then.
I think I will add a hard chamferin the next releases. I actually wrote this script in a single night, there are some bugs, but in time I will fix them.
EVIL
I released version 1.1 winch adds support for 3ds max 2010.
+1 to some kind of relax/smooth parameter, that scales from just reenforce the edge leaving the shape to full on smoothly rounded edges.
Also, NICE WORK! Great price point, of course free would be awesome for users but that isn't going to reward you for your hard work.
Yea yea keep your pants on =P
Will try to make it semi realtime.
Mark Dygert I don't understand what you mean by the relax thing, can you include some pictures?
I see a lot of people use 2009.
Will have a butchers
-If you have modifiers on top of editable poly (baseobject) and have show end result activated it doesn't work.
I could definetely do with preview too, but the tool is nice otherwise, cool not to have to worry about awful poly flow
Great way to bypass the insipid go back limitation many scripts suffer from due to Max.
Lets say its a value 0-100.
0 would be a sharp corner, only supporting edges are applied.
100 would be rounded like a normal chamfer.
Yes! Please!
And after that the roll out is completely locked, I can only click the close button (everything else just pop an error sound and nothing happens), and it reverts to before applying chamfer.
[EDIT] In fact that happens even without preview, applying changes does this too and since it output an error msg closing it down revert back to before chamfer: script not working at all
[EDIT] Do that selection and you will get it I suppose:
Fixed the major crash from 1.32
BeatKino please confirm that everything is working
Also, my mesh hopefully will show other artists on how useful your script is, I see WAY too many times a great script with a solid idea being let down my simply quad and sphere models. While they're good for testing, I don't see how that can be a production testing asset which will help me understand if I need a plugin.
Again, thanks for the script...once I setup my account, I'm definitely getting your script.
PS: Once you have some downtime and take a break from this script, could you also use your SR script on the model? One of my colleagues is very interested in your SR script to prototype the divisions of a mesh.
Ace-Angel Will definitely make a SR preview with the boot model you sent me.
Doing it as a modifier will require me to learn the SDK more in depth, because with the knowledge I have know I can't. Surely when I'm will be proficient in the SDK I will do a Quad Chamfer modifier.
Released version 1.36 which has a more compact UI as suggested by r_fletch_r.
The sharp corner option would make this viable for the type of sub-d work we're doing (without it, the supporting edges and primary faces aren't co-planar and turbosmooths will still result in slightly bubbled/bowed out faces that should otherwise be flat).
Max 2009 implementation is just because several clients have all their scripts and tools written for 2009, so that's what we're working in.
If those two points are added, I'll want to get a slew of copies for the office.
look forward to updates
Shuffle things around a bit and compact it a hair, this also mimics the caddies a bit by placing the options and buttons in roughly the same configuration. Might seem a bit more familiar to some people?
I'm not sure how many options are in smoothing, but you might be able to do that with a check box also, maybe place it next to preview?
Released version 1.4 with two new chamfering types: parallel and flat.

I tweaked your UI Mark very nice just felt the preview was out of place.
Also a live preview (I think someone suggested) would be awesome along with the script so guessing is taken out of the equation.
:)Definite future purchase.
$!nz, its like Tetris, only now he just sent a few new pieces tumbling down ha.
why does the still shot on that video look like a pink, ribbed, dildo?
Dildo boots.
Getting control of these would be really usefull.
malcolm I haven't used maya or mel so I can't port it over.
