First shot of some modeling getting done !
I really liked this concept exactly what I was going for. I will model some proportions this way and adjust it in zbrush later.
It's fine and all taking reference from anime and picking anime concepts to model but it is quite difficult to get it looking right. I have a feeling you two (makecg and Hboybowen) are going to get caught inbetween the uncanny valley and it's going to look a bit silly. Do not ever forget about realistic proportions and anatomy, even if you're doing something stylized there is no excuse to cheat those fundamentals.
If you're doing it in anime style I highly recommend doing it in a hand painted fashion possibly diffuse-only. I wouldn't recommend a realistic anime character unless you have done it before and know how to pull it off, most of the people I see that pull it off well already have a very good understanding of realistic anatomy and proportions but know where and when to exaggerate features to give it a cartoony feel.
Just my 2 cents for you two guys, best of luck in the civil war to all three of you
Thanks ceebee for the comment. I agree it is difficult.
Anyway here is the head right now I don't think it looks that great.. looks okay.
maybe with hair it will look better... My concept (was) this girl holding a Ooctopous maybe ? octopus pet. hah I'm really blank with ideas for this.
look forward to seeing daphz.
bad poly extracted hair but you get the idea.
have to work on better hair and the concept more.
Hey makecg that head turned out really nice, cute and mean at the same time, not too sure about the hair yet but i'll wait a while before moving on further haha.
If you're going for a more uhm... lets call it well-fed look the legs and arms circumference doesnt match the upper torso and hip area. The arms and legs look way to thin, if you're going for muscular ( you talked about a warrior) you'll need to add to the arms as well, right now it doesnt fit.
not sure why you flattened the eyes? but iv seen multiple people do it so maybe im missing something... anyways looks sick - and the bow is a nice touch : )
nice update, although it looks like she's got the start of a little bit of cleavage, which seems weird for a little girl. lol, I like that cross there too, it matches the character well.
(gonna rant a tiny bit, it's not an angry rant though! )
Swizzle's right though, it's not my symbolism; also let me say that I'm not the first artist to put that symbol on their work, I got the idea a few years ago from the work of Aaron Crawford, but some of my other fave artists such as Swampy, Florian Bertmer, Michael Shantz, Godmachine, Mike Jakes, Uzi Emperado, and Mark Riddick; toss it on their stuff too, and not to mention lots of bands. So it's not really my thing.
okay, so, I've been very unnorganized and all over the place lately, and i'm not crazy about how my entry is coming out, so once I sort a few things out I will post. I'm still in this! just need to get back on track.
hahaha of course i'm the one who throws things off track, sure symbolism, but I was trying to say the last part in a funny way to get the joke across - i know it's not yours daphz
