Hey everyone, I am in the process of texturing a model, and I need to make a metal texture. I have a bunch of metal texture pictures, but I want to do this one from scratch so i can have more control over it. I have watched racers painting metal tutorial, but mine always seem to come up cruddy. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get a nice generic metal base going. Thanks

Basically the other tries revolve around what these two look like. Don't pay attention to the extremely over sized scratches on the second picture, just look at the underlying base. :P
Basically, I get stone, and then something that is too dark with no real color variation when put on my model.
And i would tone the scratches waaay down.
Also, having a good metal material depends a lot on your spec map.
