Hello!
Nothing but personal/portfolio projects now. I Graduated from a 2 year 3D multimedia program and I'm hungry to start improving and building a portfolio
First summer dealio and first contest..
My contest entry for the RIFT create a colossus contest. I'm not grate with organic models/texturing. I'd apretiate any and all feedback!
First submission
Second submission (this is where the deadline was cut <//3)
Also a first for me in Marmoset.
After Submitting again and working on it secretly...I decided it was still pretty rough.. so I'm pushing on past the contest. Seeking wise poly counting words to help become a better artist!
Me thinks the pose is weak and balance is off, lighting and textures could use a few revisions too so here we go!
Changed pose and lighting

I know my fellow Humber postgrads are entering concept pieces (Danik and Tyleen). I've been considering doing one even just for fun since looking at all those entries put me in the mood to make a monster!
If you plan on putting into UDK, playing with transmission mask might be cool.

Depth of field IS cool, and it certainly aids in presentation. he issue with yours, is it has a harsh alpha. The blur needs to soften the edges of the form as well, not just the interior information.
Id also say that your texture is a bit noisy. I get that this is supposed to be an exotic plant creature, but everything is soo saturated that it creates a conflict of focus. Where do you want the viewer to be drawn into?
Also I`m not too sure if its the texture, or the UV`s but something about various parts of this model seem a bit too blurry. A huge part of keeping a clean look is consistently scaled UV shells- OR if your feeling fancy- taking that concept and using UV scaling to create focal points.
Im glad you hit on presentation, ill look into softening the outer edges. The focal point issue has been heck with this piece because of all the things going on, ill try to desatch and create an easy flow for the image.
Thanks again! keep em coming
