I am working on implementing ZSpheres in 3ds Max.
It's has many advantages over the normal ZSpheres, like better topology and better approximation to the spheres, plus you can combines different Zspheres models together (like if you have a horse and a human you can make a centaur). Also the model will be automatically rigged and skinned for you, ready for animation.
After you build your basemesh in 3ds max you can export it to Zbrush, Mudbox, or 3dCoat, or you can continue to edit the mesh in max.
You can use the high-res to make a normal map for the base, and then use the rig of the base to animate it.
It will be a commercial script, so I want to see your interest in and how much are you willing to pay for all the benefits the script offers.

Here is the process of creating zspheres in max, but I still need to add symmetry.

Either way defiantly got something here that's for sure, but seeing as zbrush already has this and most artist are used to using It already, you might have to sweeten the deal (though I do like the like if you have a horse and a human you can make a centaur) add something additional to it.
Hmm price for something like this, above or below the price of $50 U.S.
Good luck It's looking pretty cool so far.
Yes the title is a typo.
There are a lot of artist who use mudbox or 3dcoat, also you will get better results wth my script than with zspheres.
Honestly, what you show in the video is pretty far from the hype you want to create. You have done nice tools before, and I guess you will end doing a pretty nice thing... but from the commercial point of view that video does not show anything appealing to the possible customers.
I hope you do not use Metaballs for the meshing
here's the paper:

5 min model using a zspheres like system in 3ds max
...and a shoot with the sphere controls
:whyme:
But yea awesome!.
yeah it works from max 9 to 2012
here is a video showing more stuff

So I can use a symmetry modifier on it and only work on half of the mesh?
Quad Base seems a good name because the plugin produces an all quad base mesh.

Can't wait to try it!
It would be interesting to see some simple sculpting features being added to Max one day too. Basic stuff : Flatten, Standard, Pinch, Relax, Move. Combined with this Zspheres/metaballs script it would save sooooo much time - especially in the early stage of modeling !
Projection painter works just in 2011 and 2012 because it relays on some features added in 2011. I may be able to make it work in lower versions if I make it a c++ plugin but that may take some work.
Right now I'm working on Quad Base (zspheres plugin) which will work in all max versions.
I can't promise I will make projection painter work in lower versions but I will try when I will have some time.
Its some kind of sculpt like in max i dont remember what its named tho. like push abd pull and relax.
