recommendations for a good 3d max shader for specmaps?

It occurred to me that while watching Racer445's latest texture tutorial, I tend to fly blind when constructing my specmap as opposed to exporting it to 3d max where i can preview the changes quickly.

In an ideal world i'd cut out the middle man and just go Photoshop to unreal, but since having both open eats up a good chunk of my ram, its easier to have 3d max open instead. I'm curious to know what other artists use shader wise to preview their textures before exporting them to a game engine. Does anyone have any custom shaders to recommend, preferably ones that go well with the UDK?

ShaderFX is as close as you'll get to UDK in terms of 'node based' materials and creating them. So you might wanna look into that.

3Point, Xiouli and the one from Ben are good places to see and what material suits your needs.
