Buisness Cards advice

Dont really know what to write on it, I have environment artist on my portfolio. But dont know. I mean i have no job as it yet. Ideas?

And then you have like webadress email and telephone right? nothing more?

And if anyone know a great site that can deliver cards fast to Sweden like in 2 days. Got a tip at www.moo.com wich seems awsome but cant get them in time.

Keep it simple, name, and best way to contact you. Maybe email. As for position, Environment Artist, unless you plan on doing something else?

I'm sorry this is totally off-topic and sort of a rant, but I miss the times where polycount was all about modding, skinning, and pure game art joy and not this games industry stuff all the time and everywhere now.

Business cards are pretty much useless for people looking to get into the industry. Unless you're going to GDC or something similar.

i don't really see Business Cards as being as needed in the 3D industry as they are in other fields.

since in 3d your no likely going to meet future employers in person.

vs being in film or audio where there is a good chance you will meet people on set or at gigs that might hire you in person.

in general since are you in conferences like gdc daily or weekly, no.

point was Buisness Cards are more important in other media based industries than 3d due to how often you will be around potential employers or people that would contract you to do work.

hell with audio i gotten a ton of contract work from just being at the right place at the right time with a card to give out. which is something i dont see working too well with game art.

There's been a more then a few times when someone asks for my email address/website url, I think there's times when a business card could be more convenient.

I'd say just go down to a print shop and get a small run of regular business cards - none of that glossy crap either - how am I supposed to write "the guy with the funny hair who smelled of onions" on the back so I can remember who I got it from.

Best biz card I have seen was a dude at GDC had a biz card that was sandpaper on the backside. He said when they stick it in the pocket with the others it was meant to destroy all the other cards but his lol.

Actually, that's a really good idea. Going forward, I wouldn't be surprised to see more and more people start to use an "App" as their business card. Put together a bare-bones portfolio presentation in a game engine, slap on a basic touch-screen focused UI, and make sure your information is always overlayed on top of the content. Interactive digital business card. Tell people at conferences to download it to their whatever device, and you're good to go.
