Played a bit more this afternoon. I'm happy to go back to the straight up/down bounce if needs be, but here's the next step:

I like the first one but the second more recent one is two different balls. It starts off as a light ball and ends up as a heavier ball after it hits the wall.

Ok, little update. Tried to add a bit of weight at the start, and take some off nearer the end.
