I couldn't think of a better name for what I mean. This forum is pretty huge and a lot of threads get buried. I was reading the how to get replies thread and it was mentioned that it was good to get familiar with a few people and bounce around ideas.
I figured I would make a thread here seeing if there were any other people in a similar boat (student/working on portfolio) that wanted to meet up online once or twice a week and trade feedback on whatever you're working on. If anyones interested just post here and if we can get maybe 4-5 people that would be great.

Mebeh we could use the PC vent channel sometimes?
Might work well to keep people motivated and updating
But if theres a thread, etc. I'm in.
I don't think its really meant as selected challenges, more of a critique, planning, discussion kind of thing.
Yeah that's more of what I was hoping for.
More useful, there's always a good supply of challenges everywhere.
Dunno whether it'd all be in one thread or if everyone just posts in each others threads is all.
getting together in mumble, and also having streams once in a while would be nifty too
The best way to do this, I think, would be to have two set meetings a week on Skype that people can attend. Something like Saturday afternoon and Wednesday night so people who can't make it to one can opt to go to the other instead. Nothing would be mandatory since this is just for fun.
We can have a group thread here on polycount to talk about stuff between skype meetings. Maybe if the group gets large we can break it up into smaller subgroups of 5-6. That way people won't feel forced to go down a list of 35 people and post on everyones work. Plus it would probably lead to more constructive crit rather than spamming "great job!" or something.
I dunno I'm just brainstorming up ideas. It's great to see so many people are up for this
Though I checked out gorilla artfare and it looks pretty cool. It's basically people post images and you can comment on them?
Skype would be cool, we'd be able to share our screens occasionally too.
this is my list so far.

yeah and skype sounds good.
Would this eventually turn into a WAYWO thread?
Either way, I'm down for it.
Even create mini comps, like speed game art - 1 day for an asset or character finished.
Oh and live streaming of modelling sessions, just so people can chill out and watch you model (!) for a while.
I am interested in joining this group.
Yup, I'd be interested in a small group of like-minded people to bounce Ideas off of as well
and yeah, considering the interest so far, I'd thinking smaller groups would better
not sure yet how to break them up, will think on it.
On the subject of groups I don't think specific groups of people is a good idea. It would probably be better to just split it into Environments/Characters/Concept Art or something like that.
So how are you gonna set up the blog Hboy?
I have a low rate Godaddy FTP but I know other ppl here have good hosting.
Character group should be Penis tank.
Envros should be Dumpster babies.
Concept Art should be Hentai Hounds.
