The House Armed Services Committee late last night finished marking up the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which contains a dangerous provision that authorizes a worldwide war against terrorism. The bill was also amended to include a troubling provision delaying the implementation of the repeal of the discriminatory “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.
tl;dr
America just gave itself the right to invade countries without declaring war on that countries government in the name of finding terrorists.
And they didn't ask the American people if they would be cool with that.

Or Just General Art Discussion. Off topic is a good idea too.
I wouldn´t be that much concerned about their people, they don´t ask the UN. But that doesn´t really matter because you can´t tell UN from NATO nowadays...
Yes, way too much random shit around here.
If you are an artist who cares only about art, you are not going to become a good artist.
And anyways, I don't understand why you people can't just look at a thread, say "I am not interested in this" and move on. It's really not that goddamn hard.
huh!
Perhaps this whole thread should have it´s own off-topic section in the new off-topic section?
Unless your making Call of Duty or one of its many clones. Because if so, this is your plot for the next 10 years.
No guns. No weapons. Just good, old-fashioned fist fights - No punches to the face or balls.
See, that would be terrorism, apparently. For some reason it doesn´t work both ways.
On a serious note though, a good old-fashioned embargo would be efficient as well for starters. Say 400 years? Then we could try postcards, see how it´s going to work, what´s new, have you killed each other already or did you finally do something with the rage for blood and stuff..?
We have now our spanish revolution, and now reading this... Polycount should not be a place for this IMO.
An off-topic section would be perfect for these kind of threads if you can't live with it. What i'd love to see.. would be more threads with folks hired, not this!
The general section should be for industry related news and other good things, but not for polictics and stupid emo blog posts aka "i don't feel well mummy, i'm depresed, what can i do?".
Suicidal to say the least =\
Come on up! Although we're starting to head in that same direction, so no guarantees it's going to better in the long term.
First, this isn't a law yet, and it won't become one (at least not yet). This amendment includes one that delays the repeal of 'dont ask, dont tell', which is directly against President Obama's wishes. Obama has to approve all laws Congress passes, so even if this makes it to his desk (I don't think it wil even pass the Senate), Obama will veto it back to non-existence.
Second - for all practical purposes, does it matter? Obama didn't ask permission before sending special ops soldiers on a combat mission in Pakistan. I think this amendment isn't anything different than that.

russians are displeased by the US failure to halt building missile shields in poland,
and is threathening to start building more nukes.
the PLA of china... i don't trust them. mostly because of tiananmen square.
there's the tension between china and USA over Taiwan. china wants to invade taiwan,
and take over it's oil resources.
USA has promised taiwan their sovereignty, and will retaliate if chinese tries to attack taiwan.
anyways, resources are running out. and as resources run out, nations will get desperate.
