I'm working on my 3d portfolio, I'll be starting more threads like these in the coming time.
Amongst other things I am now working on a dumpster, so far I did the dumpster base/blockout mesh, and started defining the shape of some garbage bags.
A Sculpting pass for the dumpster and refinement of both the garbage bag and dumpster are still waiting in line, as well as some more props to function as trash and atmosphere building.

are you planning on putting these props in a small alley way scene ?
or just on there own.
Found some time to start sculpting the dumpster today, here is what I have so far.
the plastic bin bags should have some smooth spots.. you know in areas that are pushed out by its contents, a bin bag should be smoother where its beeing pushed against, and the folds should only show in the areas around that where you actually get some empty space inbetween the contents and the plastic surface.
try to imagine some tin cans or pizza cartons beeing inside the thing
Added some cardboard boxes to fill up the dumpster later, also some more detailing on the dumpster, not very noticeable in the render. HA!
I assume this will be baked and textured?
If so, can't wait to see this finished.
I will most definitely texture it, it's just a matter of when.
I need to find the time and space somewhere in between washing dishes for survival, finding a real job again, plus getting my 2d where I want them, and my wonderful girlfriend.
I'm swamped beyond possibilities, but who gives. For the horde!

Texture coming up, finally found the time to get this thing mapped and rendered out the main normals.
I quickly dumped some of my trash in there, so here a quick real-time render using Marmoset.

Small update, started work on the diffuse, I'm painting the whole thing from scratch for those who care.

update, texture progress shot, I also started working the spec map now.
Once I am happy with the texture I plan to add the actual garbage meshes on top of the dumpster 'floor', similar to what I had before.
