This thread has probably been started many times before, but since I cant find much info on the subject, thought I'd make a new thread.
Website hosting sites, if all you polycounters out there can share some insight on some good sites for hosting your website, or even revert me to a previous thread on the topic, that'll be great!
Also I was wondering if there are any free ones that let you keep your domain name, and not just add their title at the end of your site....ex/ yourname.weebly.com Do tell!

I had that deal, but they wouldn't let me switch to the polycount deal after it was over, and wanted $20 a month. :shifty:
You don't really want to know. Short answer, use Wordpress + templates.
Long answer is that I'm programming my site out of PHP, MySQL, javascript, and probably some jQuery before everything is said and done. I'll also have some custom Flash elements on there, but mainly just examples of my flash coding work. You want to avoid Flash for basic structural elements of your site.
At the end of the day, web development is a very deep rabbit hole to venture down. Not quite as deep as 3D modeling and animating, but pretty deep all the same. Throw in browser compatibility testing and it can be a real pain in the neck. (curse you IE!)
