School's out and I need new portfolio material, so I've been spending the first week of summer on this German SMG. I think it turned out pretty nice As with everything, it could use some more work here and there, but I like where it's at and I'm feeling the need to move on.
I would perhaps tint the bakelite to a slightly ruddier brown, it feels a bit too red compared to your ref but that doesn't detract from the model too much.....beautiful work.
Didn't you used to be Kaskad? Or was that just on game-artist ?
Interesting that you picked the red receiver, I remember seeing this for my Vz61 too, something with the original receiver having to be destroyed when importing I think ?
Yeah, that's pretty much how I set it up - I'm using Xoliul's viewport shader, the bakelite is basically white on the gloss map and I have the strength in shader cranked up to 100 (which it can't go past), I wish I could get it glossier but I can't really

I think I've heard of that sort of thing, but in the MP40's case, the Germans actually made them from bakelite in the first place, probably to reduce cost since they were really churning these things out
