Looks fine to me, but you should probably make it so that there are more links in a larger texture space, just so that you could have a smaller resolution map but retain the edges and detail on it, as the noticeability of the tiling on this is probably very low.
I'm not seeing a massive difference between the diffuse and specular maps. Something as simple as overlaying any old metal source texture over the diffuse would make a huge difference. You could also try using your AO to add some rust. Good luck, this is looking great!
I think you could make some rings larger them others and change the space between them. Everything is too perfect. Generaly chainmails are hand made.
Also when someone use it the rings space varies a lot...
@feanix, the specular texture really is just a higher contrast diffuse. I tried overlaying a metal texture but it shows through so unnoticeable its practically useless. I also planned on painting rust in once I have it spread out over a uv map. It was also hard to find a tileable good metal texture, so I planned on overlaying metal textures in the same stage as the rust. Im going to play with the ao-rust idea though, sounds like it could make it look better than clean chainmail.
@fabio, true.. especially when its being worn. I don't plan on using this excessively (just between armor pieces, maybe a sleeve)
