M4 WIP Need Help

Hey, this is my first gun and I have to say I am completely lost as to how to go about making the main body. I am really lost as to how to break this bad boy down into shapes that I can mold. Any and all help you guys could give or even pointing me in the right direction would be amazing! Here is a screen shot of what I have done.

I would start by just blocking the geometry in. All basic shapes and keep refining those shapes tighter and tighter towards the reference. The whole barrel and grip is pretty much an extruded cylinder (start with that). The clip is obviously a cube. Stock is probably another cylinder with some segments to allow a downward extrusion. Just block it in first and then go from there.

Get moar Refs. working from one side view pic is a bad way to go. Good to get the profile and proportions down, but smaller details and a good idea of how it's all put together come from references of every kind.

Google up multiple versions of the gun. Google up individual parts of the gun. To start you off here are the two main pieces of the gun's body separated and stripped of all other parts.

Hey guys I am trying to get these rails down but having issues. I found a cross section of some rails but when I use them It doe-sent look right on my gun. Here is what I have, I will also post my ref here.

Off the cuff, I'd say it's a thickness issue. Make em thicker and it might start looking right. Is that meant to be the front stock of the weapon?

Do you have a picture of what you're trying to do? because I have never seen rails on an M4 like that. If you are going for something like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PEO_M4_Carbine_RAS_M68_CCO.jpg you're approach is considerably off.

To be frank I look up HK 416 cross section rails and that was there. I found another picture that I am going to use, so it's back to the drawing board lol
