Softimage XSI high poly render??

Hey all, been struggling to find a good setup to render my high poly stuff in softimage, just wondering what you all use in terms of lights, materials, etc.

Architectural shader, i find, covers a large swath of materials. Couple that with some area lights, some bounce plates (grids with a constant whiteish material on them) and some FG and you're good to go.

aren't area lights maya? :P I don't know what the equivalent in softimage is

Edit: Nvm, forgot area was a function of certain lights you had to inable, oops. Will give this a try! Thanks

Make sure you get the gamma and scene-ambient stuff out of the way. By default the Mental Ray settings in Softimage like to wash things out.

For quick renders, I like using the Arch. material + a physical sun and sky, or just sticking to image based lighting. There's pretty much a 1-or-2-click integration with sIBL GUI (http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/software.html), and plenty of environments there for download as well.

Usually (in XSI at least) area lights were done as a function of spot. Same in Softimage now, I guess. Works fine, but needs a very careful setting.
