I've been assigned to model a weapon and environment piece in high poly, due a month from today.
I can do anything as long as there is acceptable photo reference of it out there. I'm planning to do the Mass Effect rifle, which has had replica's made so it's acceptable.
But I'm a little stumped on an environment piece for it so I hoped that some of you could propose some good starting points...
He gave as an example of the project a description like this:
"An Axe Imbedded into an Alter" or "A Sword on a Pedestal", ect...
I'm trying to figure something that would be appropriate for a sci-fi gun, but also existing in the real world and not too simple.

However if you want to go the sci fi gun route, you could always do a type of gun rack or armory. Maybe something like a gun store front display case or checkout with the guns in a glass case behind it.
Edit: Maybe something like this?
