Is there a tutorial out there where someone from the film industry walks you through render settings for mental ray in a shipped famous/semi famous animation? Specifically I find reducing flicker in the antialiasing makes the per frame render time go up to 5 min a frame. Just want to know if I'm doing this right as there have been a couple projects at my studio where we've had to crunch hard trying to figure out rendering without a render farm and a really short timeline, I am now officially the rendering expert at our studio but before that I had only rendered still shots. Animated shorts are completely different and require much higher quality settings to even look acceptable. I've heard Blur studios uses mental ray for all those awesome game trailers they do, I'd love to see their render settings and composite layers break down. I've also seen some Maya book that has a section on that animated movie Open Season, maybe there's something in there?
