Hey guys I've been lurking polycount for awhile now and finally decided to post some content. I found this great weapon concept by Rabbiteyes over at CGHub and just had to model it! Probably going to throw it into marmoset after it's all baked and textured. Any critique would be wonderful.
Still some sculpting and small details / missing pieces to be worked on
This is really interesting, because although they are working from the same concepts, GDGD and Rauls guns both look so different, really good to see personal flare/flavour in each recreation! Great stuff.
Thanks for the comments everyone! Haven't had time to check out the forums til now.
@sltrOlsson Actually this is going to be my first time baking normals onto a low poly. I've read about and know the general process but haven't gotten hands on experience with it. Thanks for the tip though, I'll probably soften up the edges some more.
@jeremiah_bigley + scotthomer Yeah I've seen some of Raul's stuff and his version of the gun after I started working on mine about a week ago. He's a talented guy and definitely more experienced than me haha.

If you are going to bake this, alot of your edges are to sharp, which is going to result in a normalmap not being able to do it's job..
Definitely too many polys for game insertion, retopo promises to be a hell of work.
Great work
It looks like a fine and faithful recreation of the concept so far, keep it up!

that is what popped into my mind when i saw the thread title.. i said "wait.. this sounds familiar" and saw the screenshot and remembered it too.
anyway... awesome job GDGD. i really like how it looks hard surface yet somehow somewhat soft at the same time. cant wait to see it textured.
