Can't see what material's selected ...??

Max 2011: Mental Ray

I've always found it really difficult to see what material is selected in the material editor. That slight difference in the corners of the material box just isn't clever.

Is there a setting, or a script to change it to something more visible .. ie. a bright colour?

ps. I'm aware of Pan To Selection but that doesn't work in all cases.

What? Are you mistaken? The corners show the material is in use in the scene. The entire box is highlighted when a material is selected, and these cues are like, impossible to miss. Maybe this will help, if you weren't aware that it's more than just the corners ;)

mmm, wish I was. I don't spot it easily ..and the highlighted edges are even more useless than the corners :)

It's fine if I'm zoomed in on the material.

Give me colour or highlight the whole block!!

I've just realised that, that's probably what enlarging the material sphere icon is for. That should help.

Any way to set the slate to a dark background without setting the UI to dark?
