3D Character Model that I have made for a 2nd year university assignment, This is the first piece of work that I have been brave enough to showcase on this forum but I am at the point now where I am ready to receive criticism, so please, fire away.
You have a good start. Here I give you some points to check out on the anatomy.
1. Look the point where arms connect to chest. This part lacks correct anatomy.
Also the chest muscles do strange balloon effect.
2. Hand proportions. Hands look small and also fingers too long.
3. Check out the hip area in general. Hip is too small and lacks some anatomy.
4. In general see the points where muscles connect. there are quite a lot of tendons and connections missing in the anatomy. Also where bones protrude out. Like in the elbows.
Thanks for the feedback man. I have already started re-doing the hands and creating elbows. Getting crazily close the deadline now though may have to go back and sculpt the tendons in during the summer
Uhm, where are his deltoids? They seem to just be fused with the trapezius? Also, the pectoralis majoris doesn't have that weird crease/seam you're showing, not even on really ripped dudes. It should attach to the clavicle on either side and there should be a gap in the middle along the line of the sternum. On the sides, the pec muscle is basically flush with the deltoid, it doesn't bulge out like that.
Also, what is up with his abs? The top portion is doings some weird stuff, what's that bulging above it?
I highly suggest you go back to your anatomy reference and examine it more critically. If this is going to be graded on anatomy, it's severely lacking at the moment. I'd bring down the subdivision level a couple notches and re-block out the major muscle groups.
Yeah, honestly, I feel this needs a total re-working. Look at references - lots. Photos of guys with the build you're looking for in addition to anatomical drawings. Keep them open while you're modeling and constantly compare.
Just something that's bugging me in particular though - look at the space between his legs. Humor me for a moment and put your hand between your thighs.. probably not that much space? Now imagine you're a built dude with massive leg muscles. I'd say right now your pelvis needs to be a lot narrower, and even with his legs spread like that, there shouldn't be that much space between them at the top.
Hi! i think that it great for you to post in the forum, many people are unwilling to take the first step!
Above is a link to human anatomy. I agree with the comments above, so study the anatomy on the chart. When in doubt just keep drawin, its not a one day acheivable thing. its a constant process
