Poly count!!!

Hi,

I am bala, Studying game design.

And i am new to "polycount"..

And i would like to clarify some of my doubts related to game model poly counts...

where as, i found that it would be the right place to ask my questions,

what is the minimum and maximum poly count is being used in the game industry, at present.

And if it is possible, please explain for characters and vehicles separately..

If you do a search you can probably find a few threads where this question has been answered in detail. The short answer is, "it depends". It depends on what kind of game the object is for, what engine you are using, what the target platform is, how close the player will be to the object, etc. There isn't really a definitive "X is the minimum poly count, Y is the maximum" answer. Basically you need to take these and other factors into account and make a judgement call.
