As the topic states. Anyone have any tips or tutorials for modeling furniture /seating/upholstery. Preference to high polygon methods that dont rely to heavily on texturing to create the furniture/seating look.
If you've got a good grasp of the modeling tools in whatever app and an eye for portions then you're set. At that point all you really need, is reference.
While it goes over creating a specific object I could apply that tutorial to just about anything. You don't really need to amass a huge library of step by step tutorials for every object on the planet. You just need a handful of modeling tutorials that get you familiar with the tools.
You could just as easily take the lessons learned from eat3D's "old damaged pillar" DVD and apply that to making a piece of furniture.
If you get stuck on something specific its easier for people to suggest things to try.
Have a look at this website. She has some really cool techniques for 3D Max. She uses the garment and cloth modifier to create pillows and a really cool sofa. Read all of the post comments and replies, there's a little more detail in them.
