Hi;
I spend a while on searching some caves\rocks\moutains...
I want to see how peoples manage the textures ect. Rocks are a hard theme...
If you remember that someone did sth like that please post link below.
I really want to see well done rocks in game... unfortunately there is lots of crap (example: enviro in mass effect2) and i didnt found sth good. hmm, Fallout 3 had pritty good but far from realism.
many THX for help!

Beautiful and believable cave interiors.

Oh god, this just made my day. Thank you for sharing this!
Caves are tricky. One of the hardest things I find to get right is making sure the sense of scale is correct. Rocks can all too easily look really fake if you mess up the scale.
Work on the scene volume first and shapes/undulation, you can always make rock props to jam into the walls to help break up repeatables.
Mix maps/ worldspace Z,X/Y (where it blends two maps; one from the sides and one from the top/bottom) shaders can help for very large surfaces but also show the tiliness of the construction.
Always use reference. I suggest do some sketches first, get used to the shapes. Do some zbrush/mudbox sketches, get used to how cracks form and other stuff like that.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Hourences has a great tutorial that I pretty much do exactly the same.
