wow, somebody made an AR that doesn't look horrible. what a nice change of pace!
most everything seems detailed and accurate, and it certainly helps make it look impressive. the only "accuracy" thing i noticed is that your eotech holosight is mirrored. the adjustment screws should be on the same side as the gun's ejector port.
my main critique however is that on most of the weapon your edges are too thin, and that will lead to a poor normal map bake. it'd be highly advisable to soften your edges so they will be more visible when baked down. a good test to see if they're too thin is to zoom out from your model and see when the edges start aliasing:
oh and hi mongy.. its nice to see you somewhere other than crymod
btw, the reason your hyperlinks are not working is because your url links to a webpage rather than a picture. you need to right-click the picture and click "copy image URL", and use that picture instead.
Really solid modeling. Hard edges are the biggest thing you need to watch as noted, and then after that of course, is modeling the highpoly too accurately, by that i mean having no consideration for how it will translate to a low, and modeling every nook cranny and hole, which you will then have to also represent in your lowpoly, and end up with a 20,000 tris low.
If you never plan on doing a low, and this is just a highpoyl show peice its fine, if not, you'll run into some major problems when you bake, or use a really excessive amount of geometry to get a good bake, on areas you'll never see(like the inside of the RIS rail, some detail on the buttstock, etc). If you're baking a low, try to remember, this is a video game asset, not a CAD model. Only spend time and resources(tris/uv space) for stuff that is going to be noticed.
I fixed the images for you, you need to go to imageshack, right click and do "view image" instead of linking to the image shack page, as someone else mentioned. It was weird though, I tried adding them with the standard [img][/img] tags and that didn't work, but when I used the little insert image thing it worked. Go figure.
Unless u use a different name where ever you go like I do it's hard to pin down who is who. Mr Herbert is more helpful than hurtful though. I don't know where you get the energy racer
He's not from CDG anymore, he got banned for being the same kind of asshole people would notice him being here.... if anyone noticed him at all.
the image regarding edge hardness is awesome btw. I made a similar thing using a cube but it didn't really illustrate it quite as well as here.
Furthermore, I'd go so far as to say some people make edges unrealistically sharp on objects. Stuff often actually can't physically be machined with that much precision and most any plastic would soon wear at corners so sharp. Besides, get to a certain sharpness and it would actually cut things
I have a few smartalec comments ready here but I dont actually care enough to derail the thread further.
@OP looks hot but will bake horribly, check racers earlier post its great advice for more reasons than he actually explains
edit: oh hi harry, I PM'd pr0digy! and asked him to ban my account if you remember? So I couldnt accidentally return to that cesspit. Just to clear that up
CDG Lovefest. I remember when I got all sorts of hatred from you idiots for having soft edges on my models on cdg, or telling people their edges were too hard. Now you're all doing it too!
Harry: Go back to jerking off to soviet tank manuals. =P
What? You'll notice i didnt actually disagree with anything you said, and the comment was meant as tongue-in-cheek, making fun of my own silly comments from however long ago. Which seemed appropriate in the *dig-up-the-past* CDG stuff context.
well, the context as i saw it was "very elitist asshole place" "hatred from you idiots" and you, not being someone i have any history of being joking wise cracking buds with. So i took it the wrong way, but i think it was a reasonable assumption.

Can you drop this kind of attitude please, it doesnt belong here. This isnt CDG.

This. I'll give you 3 guesses which posters in this thread came from CDG ... but youre only gonna need 2 ...
ANYWAY lets get this thread back on topic. i'm excited to see what this will look like with some edits!
