thats the concept, my drawing is terrible so i used my zbrush hight poly model to draw over it, he will have white wings instead of black and a "fabric puncher"(that yellow thing) for his lower arms, his pants will be white and the red part will get a blue coloration ! sorry for my english
this is a WIP render for the high poly model, organic model on zbrush from a base male model and then adjusted to the concept, and other things in 3ds max...
he will not have the horns and he has that white fabric in his hands and arms, he will have white pants and wings instead of black and the red thing in his pants will be white blue... the right shoe will not be red anymore, but blue like the lower part of the pants, his hair will maybe change color, but im not sure yet... :P and the tatoos will change for something angelical thing that i didnt choose yet!
Sounds like your not changing much, you should push yourself further. Maybe suit him up like a battle pope or something like that. Instead of chains give him rosaries or prayer beads, pick a religion and re-design him around that. Maybe make him Jin from the Crusades. Just my 2 cents.
I agree, the design needs to be changed a lot more. Not just to follow the rules, but to push yourself as an artist. This is the perfect place, and the perfect time to really push your skills, so it would be a good idea to put a bit more thought into the RE-design of this guy.

New concept with more changes, the book of the apocalypse will look different i will re-do it concept, he is like a book keeper angel. he will have 7 eyes in each wing like an angel of the apocalypse and he will have a golden "trombone" as well... he got 2 tattoons, both are crosses, one on his chest/abdomen and another one on his shoulder, his hair will be WHITE. and i was thinking about changing the chains to another thing but i really like those chains hehe :P
One thing I have to say is he's not quite "pretty" enough. One of Jin's major character traits is his beauty. This little ref image may help. You don't have to go down the whole emo route but he definitely needs to be a poster boy IMO
