Man, this is great. It's one of a very few scenes made with Unreal that don't look as though they were made with Unreal.
A have a few question for you if you have the time to answer them:
How did you get your leaves to cast shadows on to the ground?
Everything looks very crisp and high res. What's your texel density?
Can I see the tree's you've made? I make 'em all the time and would love to see your approach. the one in the foreground and to the left that's casting shadows onto the ground would be nice to see.
Others would benefit a lot to see your foliage meshes individually. Mind showing those?
Thanks man, it turned out fantastic.
And for the record I'm 99% positive I won't be finishing or entering my collab environment with Virtu, so don't worry about us poaching ideas for the contest or any such silliness.
EDIT: Also, your scene needs birds that fly by in the background towards the sun. NEEDS EM.
Hell yeah man!!! gets better and better every damn time you post. Love the cascading falls in teh far background. Your really starting to push the faces more now and I dig it. This is totaly you man. .
If I looked close for a nitpick... i'd say.. perhaps the sky could be more "ideal" or whatever.. It doesn't need a pegasus flying through it. But perhaps just try a few different things back there. I'm actually not sure what I would do myself!!! So take it with a grain of salt. Perhaps its more of how it goes off in the distance and is kinda flat in comparison to the foreground??? fuck i dunno. ignore me
Done... sorta... Alot of things I didn't get around to adding. I'll continue this a little later and make a small level. Probably release a cinematic fly through or something. Good luck to everyone! This was fun!
I might edit things a bit before submission closes. It seems to be appearing more contrasted than intended on different monitors right now. My monitors at home suck I guess...
Yay, I can post my video on my w.i.p. thread now How'd this happen, I thought it was closed here... Maybe has something to do with the resubmit for the characters...
Pretty much. The skybox doesn't count toward your texture budget. I guess I forgot to put the birds and the water ripples in there... hmm... maybe adam will let me resubmit the texture sheet. Honest mistake. But as you can see I well over a 2048x2048 texture space left so I don't think it should be a problem. On top of that they're in different texture groups. I'll send adam a message and clear this up. But yes, other than those 2 tiny things those are all the textures I used for this scene.
Just jumping in to say congrats on finishing. It's a fantastic piece. I really enjoyed seeing how solid the environment was in the very beginning stages and then just got better and better as you added things. Love the subtle details like the butterflies, leaves falling, etc.
Really, awesome work!
PaulSvoboada - Thanks man! Your work was great inspiration behind the vegetation in my scene. I ended up modeling out that tree foliage like you showed on your site. Very efficient technique. So thank you for that!!
Would be great to see some breakdowns and individual shots of your elements in the scene. And yeah, as i asked you before, possible with a little timelap/tutorial/breakdown of the rock/boulder?

I hope you are employed by a great gaming studio?
Cheers.
