Red Eclipse , Free game I worked on just had its first release

So I worked on the player model for this game for quite a while, it was a really nice time to work with the engine coder of the sauerbraten engine, hes probably one of the most helpful engine coders I've run into in a long time, helping out the ignorant artists whenever they were confused, fixing bugs fast, and adding new features when needed.
Red Eclipse is built on the Sauerbraten http://sauerbraten.org engine which is basically an engine specifically designed for ingame level editing. It has a lot of limitations but can be quite fun, it also does coop level editing which given a few good level designers, could produce really amazing levels assuming you can learn all there is to know about the ingame level editor. While the ingame level editor is limited in some senses it is also at the same time far more complex then you think I still need to learn more about it myself.
The biggest thing to realize about the engine is that it can do a lot more then what you see, the main problem with the engine is less the code and more that not a lot of higher level artists get any interest in it. it can look a lot better then what you see people produce with it which was interesting to discover (atleast for me).
The Gameplay of Red Eclipse is basic but can be fun, its a bit like quake but with more options for freedom of movement, so in that sense a bit like warsow. The AI is surprisingly good also.
There are still things I need to fix with the player model ingame, mostly animation wise since it had way more animation needed then I initially thought. If I would go back and fix anything it would be that and getting better first person arms into the game.
