Boston PC meet-up?

I know there's a few of us lurking in and around Beantown, so how's about braving the weather (God damn New England winters) for some eating, drinking and general merriment?

It's been years since I've been out in Boston, so if everyone's up for it, maybe a local or a native should recommend a venue.

Since everyone's busy being so awesome and successful making cool shit, I figured it'd probably take a while to nail down a date and such.

What do you think?

I'd be up for it even though i find Boston to be a strange and frightening place. I typically just drink at Blue Coyote across the street from the Clocktower in Maynard.

I'd be down for this but basically won't have free time for a few more weeks. I'm in Cambridge (Central) and usually bum around there...but there's plenty of decent places in Boston...Rattlesnake? Black Rose? Green Dragon?

Well, I figured it'd take a few weeks to sort out when everyone can make it etc so I'm in no rush. A few weeks from now would work for me and give people some time to suggest places.

I haven't been to any of the places you mentioned Gav, but I've been easily impressed with the food in general over here so far so wherever serves food is probably going to work.

How's about the week ending the 3rd of June (Friday)?

Hmm, two reviews on that page and they're both bad. Have you eaten there yourself? I'd trust your review over some anonymous dudes.

Also, anyone interested in a group sketch afternoon at the Harvard Museum of Natural History? I haven't been there in a bit, but it's a great spot for drawing, really inspiring.

Ive eaten their a few times. Its good food with big portions with a cheap price. The wait time is always long. The chips are always fresh and hot. Could eat just that alone. Id recomend it for sure.

Since Paul's out of town that week(end), maybe the week after? I'll trust the food recommendation, and I don't drink either, so not too fussed about that.

Eric, I'd definitely be up for an afternoon sketching - been meaning to get out and about with a sketchpad for ages now, and that sounds like an ideal opportunity. For the last month, my life has felt like Soccer Mom Adventures in Suburbia™, so getting into the city for a while would be awesome.

OK, how do people feel about Sunday June 12th? They have free admission to MA residents every Sunday between 9am and noon... so I say we could plan on core drawing time between 11am and 1pm, (people can come earlier if they want more time!) then 1:30 or so lunch at the Border Cafe. How does that sound?

From the museum: "For those who wish to draw in the galleries, the use of clay, paints, pastels, and chalk are not permitted." I've used charcoal pencils there, and I know they're cool with small portable seats like this



Standing and sitting on the floor are always good too.

I'd rather do a Saturday, but if Sunday works for more people then I can deal. Either way, that date(s) works for me.

Shall we provisionally pencil in that weekend? Does that work for those traveling from out of state / further afield?
