Sup everyone, I will be entering the brawl contest and will be working on re-imagining Juri from super street fighter 4. This is only going to be my second time participating in a big online contest,and first on polycount, so I am very excited to get the ball rolling. I will update soon with some concept sketches of what I plan to do with Juri. Best of luck to everyone else and lets have some fun.

Alright, finally got a good chunk of time to make some progress on this. I attached some Juri references, in case some people don't know her, references from my major inspiration, Tron, and the concept I drew up based on all these. I know Tron is still fresh in our minds but I haven't seen that style being done much lately and since I was wanting to bring Juri into a more futuristic look it fit really well. I also don't want it to come out exactly like Tron. It was sad to see all the hard work and detail in the suits be lost in the dark world. You can only really appreciate that work in stills taken. I plan to add more variation in the color of the suit and also have more lights in the scene then just those on the suit so you can actually see all the details. I wrote a quick bio after the concept for those that are interested. Time to start the base mesh.




Juri allowed the S.I.N organization to experiment on her and implant the Feng Shui Engine into her left eye, granting immense power. She used this power to wreak havoc on anyone or anything that got in her way. This attracted a lot of attention and after defeating Chun-li, Guile, and Cammy many fighters gathered to take her out together. They almost succeeded. After the fighters destroyed her body in the battle, S.I.N retrieved what was left and was able to transfer all her thought, emotions, skills, and personality into a super computer. Juri now "lived" on in the cyber world. S.I.N uses her to carry out attacks on any computer mainframe in the world, committing acts of cyber terrorism on a global scale. There are also rumors about a new body being constructed for Juri, but such an undertaking would take years to complete.

I know you're just starting with this, but I think you should push your design a little further. since Juri is relatively new, most people might not even know her. But I think her color scheme, hairstyle, and glowing eye are all you really need to keep in order to make her recognizable. right now, all i see if a somewhat digital version of her current costume, and I believe you can do better than that.
Keep this video in mind whenever you have doubts or reach a creative block :P

O wow, never saw that mashup of all the street fighter characters glowing. I definitely hear you on the design, I wanted to stay true to the character for those exact reasons about her being very new. I will go back and think of a few pieces that will change up her silhouette, maybe even a weapon will help, or an open trench coat just to add volume. Also thanks for the vid, maybe I should give her that yellow coat, that would shake things up. =P
