Hey guys! My arena is Inland Jungle from Street Fighter. I'm going to remake it to a some forest lake somewhere in the Russian remote place. Birches, church... I hope it'll be good. Good luck to all.
Thanks Inpw. Yeah I was thinking about that, I even had a wooden house in a first sketch iteration. But it didn't convey the Russian nature of the level. It was just pond with a house. But I want the Zagnief has his own distinct map and church represents Russia very well.
Thanks guys for your support, really appreciate.
2Sharvo: Yeah agree, I'm going to fit the skies a bit later.
Well, I've done a mesh of the wooden church and before texturing decided to compare two ones. What do you think, which one is better?
there's a lack of "stuff." You cant just have a field as a background. It may look nice in real life, but in game, it just looks empty. Also, i'd advise you make the church amazingly detailed, and move it closer to the camera (thus also making the lat a little smaller). Having just water in you mid-ground is kinda boring.

Thanks for your crit. I haven't said that the level is done. There will be couple smaller buildings, plus a lot of small stuff like fences, stones and few different kinds of trees. In general I want to get beautiful atmospheric picture instead of extra-detailed mess.

This is not about which one is better, it just really doubtful that you'll find church like that somewhere in the middle of nothing, next to swamp. So the wooden church is definitely more suitable for this location. But for those who live in other countries, there might not be any difference.
Hey guys. It's been long delay, didn't have any time for posting updates. I think I'm approaching to the end, I want to add just few spruces and may be some grass bunches. Also I'm going to add some small details to the bridge, there is only one untextured rope piece still
Hey, man, solid update! Just an idea: some foreground insects swirling around the typhas would look pretty cool. Also the overall contrast is pretty stark and the sky looks like it suffered some jpeg compression and is a bit low rez. But I'm pretty sure you'll make it shine before the deadline, good luck with this!

It reminds me of some great reference photos by a guy named Mikhail Tkachev that I found a while back.
