new ish poster!
I saw this Brawl tournament, and I had some ideas and the need to practise, so here I am, making a post!
Originally I was thinking, Kazuya or Kazama, favourites of mine; but then I remembered King and thought of an idea I thought might be pretty fun. I didn't see him when I looked though the threads yet ;p

Here's my mood board and concepts so far, not too sure which direction to take it in but initially I was thinking of a mickey rourke kind of vibe or a trainee-wrestler kind of thing

trying to get the shape right
I did try doing the face bust area in zbrush already but it went horribly! I looked at some pics after and I think I'm getting the shape wrong, especially with the nose, I was making it so the nose is too big compare to the rest of the face
I will try again but armed with some ref pics next time, I'll document my next attempt maybe for an example of a bad zbrush head ;p

Huh serious?? King doesn't even usually have a face so it's a bit more than a costume change.

I'm working some long days tomorrow and day after and earlier today, poop! But I did some small work on my character here before bed
need to work on the proportions as its a bit joe average and less like the concept atm
screen is now from zbrush, I copied the base across from 3ds Max and edited it a bit
I made the arms and body different polygroups so I can select and edit the torso without moving the arms and vice versa really easily, never knew how to use that feautre before, makes it much easier esp around the armpits!

Shorts over the mascot trousers might be an idea, though I like having the legs big, seems nice to have them looking bulky like this because they seem strong and stable to look at, but at the same time they are just a light cosstume over the top so he can kick and move quite fast ;p PLus them you get when the upper body goes into them.
I keep looking back to the concept though and I think it's got something the 3d model has yet to capture so thats somehing I want to look at
edit; heres my last edit for today, changed the face, and having a hard time with the back part, adding it in to make it clear its half of a moscot suit and for a bit more detail but it's hard to visualise how it would fall, seems like its made of another material than the bottom half too ;x

more changes and experimenting, image order goes from top left [based on an update of the mascot image, but later in the timeline when the character has used the idea beginnings as a base and developed it into a full costume], to bottom right
