It's coming on, the bottom half is pretty much sorted now. For the upper half I need to work on some leather jacket variations - biker, smart, open, closed etc.
I also need to tackle the head, I've been battering through a few paintovers. As always the first ones are very cliched, but last night I hit on the idea of have a smooth LCD face that plays back a movie.
Started working up some face ideas. Trying to move away from cliche, but the Joe Pineapple head is my current favourite, and then the video screen face.
I like C the most, with the black & yellow jacket! I think this design would let you put that bright blue on the jacket, with some purple under it to keep the original idea strong. Not as big of a fan of the full on robot face, like the cheek-bone cut jaw face version a lot more!
Aye, I do prefer the more classic jacket, I'm leaning towards G which is pretty much the same as C with bigger guns and different boots (higher turnups too), but I think the darker boots work better to complement the jacket and hat.
Hey man, love powerstone 2 - this was totally one of my favorite characters to play as.
I like the costuming and silhouette so far, one crit would be that he seems to be leaning forward in your default pose. The angle of the legs to the hips is good but I think he needs to be bent back more at the waist.
Aye, he was way off balance. Fixed that and updated the proportions, then got him into Zbrush tonight to make a start. I've not touched Zbrush for what seems like years.
A pleasure too see you participate, Rick. Haven't seen you make some art for ages(except for those games I've been playing all the time:) ) Shaping up real nice!
As an idea you might consider exaggerating the proportions a bit. I understand that things are now how they would be for a real person, but fighting characters even portrayed in a more realistic fashion still usually retain that over the top look. So maybe longer legs, wider shoulders etc. would work here too. In conjunction with robotic parts I think it would blow people away.
3 more weeks to go. Would love to see you finish! Good luck, mate. Keep it up.
Heya, Rick.
Sorry it took me a whlie. Here's an idea for you:
The original was 7 heads tall which is not all that heroic as 8. Also the abdomen felt a bit inflated, so I flattened it - tried to make the chest stand out more. Here are the silhouettes:
In no way do I expect you to be happy with it. It's up to you, mate, I just couldn't resist trying to bounce a couple ideas your way.

YES! thank the gods someone is doing ps2... I loved that game so so much when I was a young one..
Started some concepts. Began with a paintover of the original, then roughed out some thumbs. This sheet is a mix of the two.

Also thinking of these ideas:
Although H has one hell of an epic chin.
G is right out.

lookin rad!
Blocked in a new base for paintovers tonight, I'm going with the open jacket sinister android, but haven't decided on the arms yet.
Also!

Might try a brown hat to complement the boots.
And a turnaround:

Looking forward to seeing where this goes, keep up the good work.
Need to figure out the mesh insert brush to add the hanging belt parts from the jacket.
Heels are too high and blobby.
Pub now.

I'd actually played around with the proportions during the concept stages but never found anything that I was happy with.

I've actually ben making similar changes myself - bigger chest, smaller head, longer legs, but I'll see what else I can take from that paintover.
Thanks again!
I am really hoping to see this guy in his full glory!
I'd love to see you do some more art though.
good luck
