[FIGHTER] Killer Instinct, TJ Combo, Deltasquint

I'm still a very newbie artist, but I'd like to give this a go. I'm going to be trying to do TJ Combo from Killer Instinct as a former soldier who was captured and turned into a gladiator in the Roman Times.

I think his personality and his history as a former world champion boxer translates well to a historical archetype like a gladiator.

After some research I've found that there were a kind of gladiators called Cestus which means Boxer. They wore leather straps on their hands and sometimes attached spikes, studs and blades to the straps as well.

I think this fits perfectly for our TJ Combo, so that's the direction I'm going to go. I'll attach some reference material here:

Doing some more searching and trying to feel good about the pose, I've pretty much determined at this time that he will be doing a Superman Punch. Its dynamic and I think it will suit him well.

Looking at the guy, I notice he seems very strong on the Stars n' Stripes... I wonder if you've thought of keeping/adapting that part of him to your new setting?

Thanks for the reply. I have definitely thought about the flag, but I'm at a loss for the moment. I am using some drapped cloth for his groin / outer thighs which I could adapt to use that pattern. I just have to decide whether or not I want to go that direction.

Some horrible scans of horrible sketches. As bad as the sketches are, they look even worse because of the scanner I use. First page was doodling and the second shot is an idea of using it in the pose.
