[FIGHTER] Smash Bros, Link, thomgoblin
i know link isn't really a fighting game character (although hes appeared in 2 fighting game series) but ive wanted to do this for about a month now and this contest is a great motivator.
i got to spend like 45 minutes doing some sketches last night, the idea is to do a hipster/punk/modern version of link.
-i want to keep the layered looks link has with his undershirt/chain shirt/tunic. i think a hoodie instead of a tunic and then a tshirt with a thermal undershirt? the undershirt has a high collar, so maybe a bandanna or keffiyeh or something.
the baldric strap needs to stay in so i included a messenger bag which i think if i position more towards the back i can make look kinda like the hylian sheild.
either skinny jeans or high socks instead of tights,
i dont know if i want to give him big combat boots or some high top chuck taylors. it depends if i go more hipster, punk, or skater.
give him lots of random bracelets and junk instead of big heavy gauntlets.
beanie instead of a sock hat, seemed like the right choice
im not sure what to do for the master sword... i could keep it a sword, but make it something more modern? itd probably just be a katana, since everyone in modern times has a boner for katana. maybe a baseball bat? a skateboard?
maybe ill include a fixed gear named epona?
would love some feedback and suggestions.

You could always do that annoying bastard fairy Navi as a bluetooth headset or something.
For his sword maybe an umbrella or something realistic. I think a Katana would clash with the hipster vibe that you're going for.
i might try going into a more punk direction (liek in picture 3) cause i kinda like the way the cargo shorts look like like tunic-skirt. also i dont know if i like th glasses.
should be starting on my basemesh this weekend!
bag ideas, likely in hylian crest colors. wanna add an iphone pouch to the strap and texture the screen to say "HEY LISTEN - 44 new messages from Navi"
im also debating giving him either a cafe racer motorcyle or a fixed gear bike with an "EPONA" sticker on it.
And ill probably have him holding a camera like this

because in this continuity Ganandorf is a wealthy son of the owner of Ganon Industries, who stumbles across Zelda's blog and wants to make her into a big writer, so Link, an art student and bass guitarist for a shitty band, has to go find out where the cute girl who used to hang out at his shows went and stop her from selling out.
But you've totally won me over. This is gonna be awesome and I love the new story.
Those could deffinetly be used like swords when folded up haha. (plus i see hipsters still riding those, they are kinda fashionable...like in zoolander)

its been a busy weeeeekend and week. kinda behind on his. just blocking it in in maya, gotta finish the accesories n junk then hoping to get a sculpt started soon. im reeeeally rusty in zbrush though.
