Yes, I have some ideas. This stage is nice because it lets use large amount of recreating: space, organic, hellish or angelic, cyberpunkish and so on. In difference of Blazeblue stages which are cool but I cannot imagine how they could be changed with saving similarity
Illusion - Thanks. Well, during work with GoGoRiki (Smeshariki in English) I found an affection for environment art into myself
I need advice. See pic below. These huge spinning things looks like a rings, but through hole in the wall we can see just a part of a ring - about quarter (red line in my pic). Are there any possibilities to use only quarter of ring without polygons increasing?
Really, if you're going to make the spinning rings far enough away, you could just make them planes with animated textures on them. Just go crazy making awesome rings and get a render of them doing a rotation and then use that as the texture on 'em. If they're too close this won't look good at all, but far enough away and you won't be able to tell the difference.
do you really need to bother with animation here? I mean, the finals will be judged based on static shots. You could make a segmen of this cylinder for static shot, and just duplicate it later if you decide to make a video of it. I don't think it's prohibited.
Thanks for advices. slipgatecentral I thought same way. I also suspect that I will not exceed tris limit even if I make whole ring. FirstKeeper This is brilliant idea! If I heard it earlier I would try to make it. However I choose another one (hope I'll not regret about my choice)
Here is initial crapy scetch to check scales and colors. Sorry for my drawing skills:
I decided to make power station in art deco style.
This is an awesome stage, and if you want to animate the rings you don't need much more than a quater so long as they tile, just animate them rotating till the tiles line up and snap the ring to starting rotation, no one will notice a thing (you can see that the same applies to the original stage too)

any ideas of makeover?
Good luck
