Link has always been one of my fav characters but he is always so good...yuk! That is why I wonder what a proper bad-ass warrior version of Link would look like. So I guess I'll give it a go and see where this takes me. Good luck everyone!

What kind of bad-ass warrior do you plan to be your inspiration?
The story goes a little like this...
After Link, as a young boy, has saved Hyrule from the evil forces, he fell in love with the newly found fame, attention and power. By the time he hit puberty things started to get a bit out of control though. He was not only obsessed with collecting Rupees but started to steal the post of the postman, fight with the locals, stuck his grapling hook in places he just shouldn't have, took up cow tipping and broke every pot and sign he got in his sight.
The inhabitants of Hyrule were so upset that their all-time hero turned on them they had no other option to thrown him out of the land and ban him for ever.
This didn't go unnoticed by Ganondorf who took him under his wings as an apprentice while Link was at his weakest. Every day the anger grew stronger within him.
Ganondorf even let out his little secret and said: "Link...I..am your Fath..
Link: Say what?! I didn't see that one coming!
By now Link was drunk with power and vengeance and set out to destroy Hyrule with his father once and for all. Untill now...
It has come to his attention that foreign fighters from all over the universe are coming to his far away land to capture "his" princess Zelda. Having been banned from Hyrule is something had to live with up until now but his love of his life Zelda will not fall in the hands of those filthy fighters! If this means he will have to fight with Hyrule instead of against it in order to save princess Zelda..than so be it. All his power, anger and pure evilness that has been growing inside of him all these years can now be unleashed in...The BRAWL of a life time!
I'll try to explore what Link would look like if he would be more of a samurai and was influenced by Ganondorf clothing style as well. If that doesn't work out for me, I'll just make him Mr Tingle's fairy cousin

Started on the 3D model while still trying to get the grasp on normal maps and stuff with a few little tests here and there. Still have to shape the body proportions quite a bit and haven't started on the head yet but wanted to add a few elements like the jacket and hood.
trying to see if I can go for a more stylized version than the paintover image. Needs a lot more work on the proportions and contours. And oh yeah, don't mind the missing head

I like that it's attached to the arm thats friggen sweet but like how sweet would it be if you broke up the design to conform to the arm.

Dudealan2001: I think the metal knuckles are a great idea. How they fit with the shield and give Link something extra to fight with. Thanks a lot for taking the time to make the drawing. I am stoked about the shield, will start with design right away, woohoo.
and I love your gauntlet if this was built into the gauntlet it would be off the hook.
