For a dirty ol geezer that is some CLEAN sculpting dude. Getting so much character with every update. Love it!. You should totally give him some sort of sling with a giant jar full of Moonshine. Maybe a little more asymmetry in the pants. This stuff is top notch!
Added the Moonshine Jug and a knee patch to mix things up. Gonna add a rope to hold the jug on and thinking about putting the three diamonds on the jug with x's in them. The diamonds are from the print design on the original chin character. Not sure what they mean but i would like to incorporate them.
wanted to try some ideas I have been thinking about of small things that would give him more story and character. Wanted to know what you guys thought.
Here is what I added:
Added a small boot knife for protection from varmints and villians.
Added an eagles feather that he got from an old native american friend named "Sipping Bull"
JacqueChoi: Thanks! Ya I am going to try an rework that area a bit. Am also going to add a rope draping over his lower waist to hold the jug on, that may help break it up as well.
ishli: Thanks! To Bad you don't get to see the feet when everything is together the feet are one of my favorite parts.
AKAperly: Thanks alot! Ya I'm super pumped I stuck with him, Tons of mechs and hot babes, maybe this old fart will have a chance.
love the body shapes! the feet are really great, but compared to those, the face looks totally overdetailled and could use quite a bit more style and simplification
Had some time this morning to give his hands some love, gonna try and knock out his head hair tonight should be fun. Still trying to figure out how much i want to be solid geo and how much to be cards.
If any body has any advise about how to approach hair or some good links on some successful hair please share them.
Finished the hair, went through about 3 different styles and approaches. Also added the 3 diamonds from the original Chin's shirt to the moonshine jug. I also added a little of my own flare to the diamonds as well, to reflect my new character.
The inside of the hands are a piece of art to me, and the face is coming together great as well, but there is something about the total that is off to me, but I just cant figure out what it is. Might just be the pose but not sure.
Neox: Thanks, I think once I get the facial hair in its going to cover up the majority of the facial detail.
lonelysquare: LOL, funny thing is I'm really a concept artist trying to become a character artist.
Mike Yevin: Thanks, the style has really been growing on me, looking forward to seeing what else can be done with it in the future.
seven:Thanks, alot man.
duncan: Thanks again!
JGcount: Thanks. Once Im done with the sculpting I will pose him, should make the composition a little more interesting. I'm also going to give him an old pic axe.
Rick Stirling:Thank you.
AKAperly: ]Thanks dude! Your guys is looking pretty sweet as well. I really like the sketch.
Small Update:
I tried keeping it subtle, and added some imperfections to the surface of the Moonshine Jug. It was looking a little to perfect. I wanted it to look more like fired clay.
I've really been digging on the style of this, onelung
one thing that bothers me a little bit is the line that goes all the way through the triceps to the deltoid though
the hands, feet, and arms are especially fantastic. I'm looking forward to more, man!
I just start to follow this project, and so far it is looking really good, I really like the route you went with this.
What is a fighting games without this fun characters. I am new with sculpting in Zbrush, so it is really inspiring to see such a great sculpting.
Texturing has begun! Got a first pass at the pants done.
duncan: Thanks man! gaganjain: Thanks, I was very pleased with the bake. Took a while had to do most of the objects separately to get a good bake. g2000: Thanks, your guy is looking great too dude. eCzety: Thanks for checking my thread out.
wow, awesome detail on the bottom of the shoe.
Just out of curiosity, will the pants get more dirt love? I just envisioned them being all grimy, stained, or muddy even.
AKAperly: thanks! I have a pic axe and boot knife that is not visible right now so there are some tris that are not accounted for, what you see there is sitting at 11310 tris
jocz: Thanks, totally once I get the base done for the texture im going to go back and and aging, bleaching, and grim all at once. He is going to end up much dirtier than he is now.
eCzety: Thanks, I'm glad you are liking it.
Ihazard: Me to man, I really had to stick with it and see it through. Now I'm really having a blast with him.
Here are some texture updates, notice his super sweet farmers tan now. If you don't know what that is just goog it and you will get some laughs.
Really cool style and look man! Cool reenvision too. Def. a fun one! I like the bony fingers. This guy has been drinking! lol.
The only thing I am having trouble with is his oblique area in the last image, from teh back. It may be the lighting and all taht that isn't helping. but thats the one spot i woudl go back and look at reference (if you can stand to.. yuck, haha). but yeah thats about it.
Texturing is looking great. Have you considered a slightly different shading type for this guy? Something a little more subtle than TF2 or something custom?

Work on waist area, belt, buttons ect.
The toes are looking awesome.
I'm not a big fan of the symmetry in the crotch area.

-The general stylization is great, but on his face (specially around his eyes) you did a lot of small details and lost the focus on large surface as you were doing to the rest of the body.
This is a exemple of what I am talking about:

Give more form, and between them you can leave those wrinkles.
I hopa that makes sense...
Great stuff so far!!!

I get the feeling it could use more loops around the arms, and maybe reduce them either going lengthwise, or on the toes.

chill-lair: thanks, ya man! I'm totally going to mud and grime him up at the end.
Here is a first pass at the base tones for the skin, still have to go back and give it a little of old wrinkly love.
looks like you've captured all the silhouette breaking details.
are you at 12,000 tris?
Looking ace, with a banjo on my knee!
maybe add some more lighter color to the pants, like if it was washed out.
