I'm going to adapt him to a steampunk design with cool mechanical light saber and some sort of steampunk generated force powers.

I think aside from just having an elaborate contraption to power the lightsaber, making a steampunk imitation of the lightsaber would be way cooler, for example a steal rod superheated, so it's glowing steaming metal.
