I'm going to be doing the Kombat Tomb from Mortal Kombat 2. It one of the few arena's that havn't been re-done to death and I think is pretty open to interpretation.
Here's the Mood-board and a rough overhead sketch of basic layout.
I'm being fairly liberal in terms of re-imagining the stage, however I am taking more literally the name "tomb" and placing it in a monastery-esque holy ground area high in the mountains.
I'm currently working on blocking the level. I'll be using Unity Pro as my game engine of choice.
I started to block out the stage. I'm probably going to shape the mountains to come to more of a sloped point, like the cone shaped mountains in my Mood-board.
I may actually turn the mountains into a plane/matte background, depends on how high the tri-count gets as i detail out the stage more (its at ~121k right now with terrain). I'm also going to add in some more mausoleum style structures to break up the graveyard a bit.

You should add some turrets.

and ya, you should just do those cliffs yourself instead of a terrain actor.
