well here is my concept of Nightmare. There are some bits that i am still not shore about. I wanted to do for a bit more of a darker vertion like something you would see in lord of the rings.
Cool progress, I think you should go in the greek/roman direction in terms of armor. If its too nordic(like the first concept piece) it will look pretty much like a marauder from the Warhammer universe
loving the new direction, definitely a cross between 7 and 8 - maybe bringing the peak of the helm in 7 out to look more like a horn without actually having a 'horn'. I wanna see either a bad-ass grimy Romanesque sword or some kind of trident/spear/flail...
I have to say I like the helmet in your initial concept the others remind me too much of gladiatorial armour, the first concept had some great shape and the horns were a great addition I think you were closer with that in regard to the head.
The ploom of feathers at the back isn't doing it for me tooo much, I'd be tempted to keep the silhouette they create and replace them with melt feathers, something more sculptural.
Out of the sketches its gotta be No.4 for me.
Its looking great solid looking silhouette work, Looking forward to seeing the progression.

hey guys thanks for the feed back really appreciate it. i have decide and i have counted the votes and its going to be number 8. need to work on the helmet design a little bit more with this one coz not shore how to have the front horn attach to the helmet.
looking tasty matey, will be very interesting to see how you go about that stomach-mouth thing. It may be a bit late for suggestions such as this, but did you consider maybe doing that whole area as a kind of low gilded breast plate? Like the image attached but on its own, held on by belts and buckles etc - maybe tie it into those straps. Whatever, bit late in the day perhaps... looks good anyway

I have kind of gone in a different direction with this now, I am going with a gladiator theme to nightmare now.
Cant decide what helmet to go for, what do you guys think.

I though it was time I posted some been putting in back, but I though I would grow a pair and post up. so here is an update.
got to start to add more detail into him now, and add the feathers on the top of the helmet.
