"Active" offset/tile in PS?

We have all thought it, why haven't any one done it? Or have i missed something like this? Is it inpossible?

You know the "offset canvas" toggle in Zbrush. You push ~/§, or as for me since i'm Scandinavian - ö, to offset the canvas very easily. Wouldn't that be frekki'n awesome to have in PS?

Yep and people have been crying for it for years, almost decades... and still they push through crappy bloatware features like flash style point based animation system and 3D painting that blows ass and doesn't work.

Filter > Other > Offset? I think I'm missing something here.

Last time I checked it was not interactive. Paint on the left edge and it wraps around and paints on the right side. So many other crappy 2D apps have this but they've never put it in... why adobe why!?

Yeah, it really feels like such a "simple" thing. As you said Mark, if you compared it with stuff the put in there instead..

Wouldn't this be something possible to script in PS?

i'd be really interested in hearing what painting apps have this. It's definitely one of the features I miss the most when working on textures in ps.

With mudbox new PS alike texturing mode you can actually paint textures that tiles on the fly. But it's not the same.

Huum..What if we gathered a good amount of users and sent them each one of us an email with that feature request?

Maybe they wont ignore that.

Ah yeah. It's not interactive. That would be nice although I think I'd still use the static offset most of the time so I'd be able to see the area it's tiling in more clearly. It would definitely have some nice uses though.

I altered this script to not ask for input, one version offsets vertical the other horizontal, both by half the canvas width so you can return to the original position easily. It's not the most elegant solution, but works on multiple visible layers which is useful.
