I notice that the concept art is fairly painterly and the proportions are more exaggerated than the actual in-game models. Was that a decision to tie the style in a little better with the previous game?
@ d1ver thanks!
@ maxivz thanks, I really enjoy the new direction too!
@ Swizzle I wasn't privy to all of the art direction decisions as far as how we made our concept art, but I know we kind of strived to straddle a line between matching the concepts and creating a more realistic look and finding a nice balance in between. In the end I think we were successful.
@ ae. Thanks very much!
Very nice.
Is there any specific reason that the first armor design you have in the list is split into 3 different maps? I'm guessing they are swappable, gloves, boots and main body, but I'm not sure. What size maps are they as well? Not sure if you can actually answer any of those questions though.
I personally haven't had time to play the first one yet, but most of my office has and they all loved the game. They actually spent the better part of today playing DAII today. Congrats on the release.
I preordered the special ed and even bought the guide/artbook. Great work I love the game i played for around 6-7 hours today after class(dont judge me! :P)
Also it seems u have made my favorite mage weap look to date.
very nice, thnx for sharing, post more?
the graphics definitely improved alot for DA2, couldnt force myself to play the first one, but definitely gotta try this
good job
I'm loving DA2 so far, and I really really like the new art direction, personally. I especially like the new staves, they are 100% awesome.
Good work!
And thank you!
@ beta_channel thanks. we split the armors up into 3 so they can be swapped with other armors.
@ Purplepaint thanks, it's my favorite mage weap too!
@ Alberto Rdrgz thanks!
@ slipgatecentral thanks man, I'll post some more when I can. I agree, I think we definitely improved alot over DAO both technically and artistically.
@ HonkyPunch Thanks, enjoy!
@ Bigjohn Thanks... and there can never be too much blood
CJE Is that Matt Rhodes concept art? I remember sketching with him at West Ed quite a ways ago when he came back from ADAPT. Kev Chu introduced him to me, sadly I haven't talked to Matt or Kev in a while. Great people!
@ kaburan Thanks!
@ duxun Thanks!
@ RustySpannerz Thanks, and part of the reason the terrain doesnt look so good is I had lower settings when I was taking the screenshots, I was having some issues with my DX11 card
@ Allan-p Yah I believe Matt did some of the character concepts. I'm not sure if he did these specific ones however.
@ doc rob Thanks man, you created some stuff as well? Outsourced?
@ doc rob Thanks man, you created some stuff as well? Outsourced?
"Insourced," I guess, since Mythic is technically part of Bioware now. I did these weapons plus a couple more:
I just found that on Google Image Search but I can't seem to find a bigger shot. Nate LaMartina did a few things here as well before he moved out there.
@ Sebueroc Never long enough Thanks!
@ Doc Rob Ha nice, I remember putting those weapons in the game and reviewing them with the rest of the team. You can find them on the Arishock, they are his unique weapon set.
brutal weapons and outfits CJE! DA2 is looking really good! Out of curiosity whats the turn-around time for cranking out those outfits; model+texture?
:thumbup::thumbup:
@ Mikezoo Turnaround time for the model+outfits was around 15 days I believe, not including polish we did as the game was developed and added more graphical features.

What kind of time constraints do you have when pumping out one of those characters?
