UPDATE: Finished Jims body and head!
Hey Everyone,
It's been awhile since I have shared any art with all of you. I am currently working on an Earthworm Jim Redesign. I started a doodle of him quite awhile ago for a competition mini but abandoned it. Here are some shots of the High Poly, I'm moving onto building the low poly next! Comments and crits are most welcome

get this low poly and in game now.
make it so that its possible for his worm body to detach from the mech part!
maybe model the worm part separately, in a straight worm t-pose thing.
and then putting him into the mech after rigging or whatever
my thoughts exactly the second I saw your screens man! But the mex beat me to it...
It is actually amazing, but my only crit too is... his long floppy feet, although, I'm not sure how it would look with the rest. Also, get a plasma blaster sorted!
you should texture him. Just don't do gears of war gray and brown

@ thatanimator - Yeah, Im gonna make a version of the head that is more rig friendly
@ RAWTalent - There was a version of him with floppy feet early on, but I felt it took away the spirit of what I was going for. I wanted a darker, and grittier Jim with some waffle stomper boots. lol

@ Mind Traveler - I modeled all the hard surface stuff in max, then took it into zbrush to dent and scratch it up haha. The underarmor was hand sculpted in zbrush though.

Its well executed for sure, but I feel like the character itself suffers a lot.
maybe once its textured. At the moment it leaves me going.. meh.
Maybe pushing the proportions further while keeping the detail would help. I really think the hulking arms with scrawny legs really add a lot.
Top notch work! While I do love the original classic, I can't ignore the talent that went into making this, very, very nice design.
But does he rocket through the sky...? That is the question...
Technically, this is one of the most solid sculpts I've seen in recent memory. The forms are massive and well composed, and the details are well placed and crisp.
Truly heart-warming. Bravo.

the only thing i dont like are the fingers. They seem a little too disconnected with the hand like they were little clips slid onto them rather than more integrated into the gloves
Also, will he have his classic one big eye with one little eye? or will he be rocking the demon eyes?
@itsmadman - Thank you for the compliment on the head, wrestling with doing the oldschool jim body and this new one was something i pondered a lot during the creation.
@ leilei - Haha i like that "parody" that's a good way of thinking about it. Psycrow would be cool

@Zelenkov - Haha, there are still other characters that can be re-done from that game.

@ Archanex - LOL, glad I didn't disappoint you. Earthworm Jim is one of my favorite game characters from my childhood as well, so I knew if I tackled this I couldn't let it look like garbage. He has the one big eye and one smaller eye now kind of. I didn't exaggerate it as much as the 2D original version. His eyes will look a bit less demony once the iris and pupil are textured in there.

@d.hynes - Yeah, i feel you. This version evolved over time as I kept tweaking and making new design choices. For the particular type of suit I ended up giving him, I think the floppy feet would not have worked. If I ever do a variant maybe i could pop them back in there

Anyway everyone, This update is the normal/AO bake, I am gonna be working on a couple other things, so I won't be texturing him for the next couple weeks. Stay tuned though cause when I get some time, I will be finishing this sucker off!!!
