I've been working on Mass Effect's M8 gun.
This is a university work, where I must model an object under 1000 tris.
Current tris: 898
The mesh is made with floating geometry, to keep the polycount under 1000.
C & C are welcome!
You could use fewer sides on that small rod above the muzzle. You don't need that for something so small. That will give you some more polygons to use elsewhere.
yeah its looking pretty good, looks like its heading in the right direction. Altho, i would take a close look at your scale of the gun because looking at the pictures that r_fletch_r posted you're a bit off, especially talking about the handle and the stock of the gun.
Cool work dude! I agree with Serp, It will be much cooler with the glow on the side.
Only thing I can say is that the specular level can bring you a lot of strength to the weapon, you should check it and maybe add another one with scratches and some stuff like that.

I would pay more attention to the upper area though. It was more segmented and there were quite a few subtle changes in shape
Check this out if you havent allready seen it. some great refs

@r_fletch_r: Really interesting article! Thanks for sharing!
2096 tris.

Awesome work anyway!
Keep it up!!
I think you should made some improvements like making a more realistic hand grip.
Good job.
Now you need to make Blasto to hold it
