A lot of people (on deviantArt at least :P) say the Dunning-Kruger effect is TOTALLY TRUE, but .. it really doesn't work for everyone. There really are plenty of unskilled people who are aware of their failure, and good artists confident in their skill - if not, we'd have to listen to a lot more bragsters and whiners than we do xD
Maybe the problem IS narcicism.... stopping people from saying HEY HOLD IT: was this actually as good as I thought?
I mean, if you only look to yourself, how can you compare your level to anything?
