If your a 3D coat user I'm sure you know what a pile of fail the Occlusion baker is and how much it needs to be replaced with something usable.
I've started a new thread in the feature request forums posting images of how
Mental Ray does occlusion. showing how each parameter effects the solve and have given some usage examples. I would really appreciate it if anyone who this applies to could post in the thread and put pressure on Andrew to fix this feature.
Also posting some nice pics of how you use occlusion in your models would be great to sell this to Andrew.

Along with traditional AO, it offers Up Slope, Down Slope, Concavity, Convexity, and Noise Variance.
Check it out: (skip to 5:10 if you just want to see the occlusion stuff)

Here's a page with some pics and descriptions (scroll down a bit to see them)
I'd go over there and suggest these things myself, but I don't own/use 3d Coat so my voice would probably be ignored. Someday when I've got some extra money it's a definite buy for me though.
