Looks like a fun piece. Are you working off of a concept?
You might want to go back and fix up some of your anatomy though. Grab some reference and really pay attention to where the muscles connect and how they flow. for an example - right now your deltoids look really awkward where you have that 'v' shape between the bicep and pec.
and the mouth wrinkles don't seem to fit. I'd expect similar wrinkles like that on an elderly person... which doesn't really mesh with his super ripped physique.
ok cool, yeah got to fix the lips they seem real thin, also will work on the deltoids amd yeah Im thinking the same on the wrinkles I wanted him to be kinda haggard but strong! sorcerers always seem like weaklings just wanted to be more like a warrior priest sorcerer! lol but yeah I'll tone them down
I think if you can relate one (or two at most) animal type into his costume, it would add much more character. The last 3 headware are more appealing to me because I see a bird, jaguar, and fish in each one respectively. If you continue this down to the rest of his outfit, the generic muscle bound character will be more interesting.
I somehow prefer the first version of the head. This one looks now to "caricatural" to me compared to his more realistic body, especially his cheeks that are too deep. Lips are way better though
Also he has 2 stranges wrinkles on his forehead and I don't really dig the "scratchs" that are coming from the center of the pecs/abdos :poly122:
You've got some really nice details in the skin so far, but I would have to agree with Cap hotkill that the face looks too European. The cheeks are really sunken in too, I think you should fill em out a bit, as the lips too.
I think Apocalypto would be nice reference, even if that's the Maya, not Aztec
are you only showing one angle of him? can you show side angles and other positions?
Looking at the front of it doesnt give much more info about the mode.
i agree with everything thats been said already, also those plugs are far too small for how low you've sagged his lobes. id suggest making them either bigger, or look much heavier
I'm thinking the primary thing which needs to be done is with the upper lip. Look how full the lips are in all of the refs posted earlier, and especially the upper lip. IMO the the jaw shouldn't protrude as much as it does. I'd like to see more of an overbite and angular muzzle region in general, and adding bulk to those mouth muscles will naturally do that.
I don't mean to flood the place with paintovers, but here are my two cents on the matter.
I also turned the nose down a bit, drew back the slope of his forehead, and played with his neck some.
