I looked at the website but still didnt really know what messiah was but I just found this which explains a bit although I guess whoever wrote it really loves messiah hehe http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=92&t=122700
the autorigging sounds intriguing anyone got a vid or explanation of how messiah is better than maya etc?
If any of you who "purchased" Messiah are going to want to use it right away once the licenses are released en masse and are concerned about possibly of overloaded servers. Then it might be a good idea to download a copy before that time.
That way all you need to do is wait for the license email to arrive. Now if only the docs were in PDF format, and up to date... EDIT: here's a What's New in Version 5.pdf
Then again it's not like downloading UDK or Unity so it shouldn't be too bad.
It's climbing pretty steadily. I went ahead and got the $40 version. If nothing else, it's good to have extra tools around. Can't go wrong with that price. Thinking about picking Silo up soon as well. Between Silo and this, I should be okay.

take a look at voidworld before you pay for silo. Silo is great but the development has been shite as of late, developer presence is nill and its pretty buggy.
"We thought it would be interesting for people to see some celebrity names who have purchased. (Not celebrities, but just celebrity names. See if you notice a theme with any of them) - Janet Jackson, James Taylor, Andrew Jackson (back from the grave?), Howard Jones, Michael Scott (from "The Office" ?), and Steven Tyler. Just something to brighten your day while we wait"
Also, I have a 64-bit version of Windows 7. Does that mean I'll have to get the Pro version to use it at all?

no, it can run both 64 bit and 32 bit applications, that's why you have two program files folders. Program Files (x86) is where your 32 bit applications live while 64 bit ones are in the standard Program Files folder.
Sale is almost over. I've got a copy of Pro now for me, and Basic for a friend. I've fumbled with the demo before, but since you can't save I've never gotten down to the nitty gritty with messiah:studio. I'm looking forward to soon.
Ok i just played with the demo. Man the playback speeds alone make this more than worth it. Not having to render out a viewport capture in max to see full speed animation is going to be amazing.

Are you saying that because the bar is almost done or because you actually know that they're going to cut the sale?
I don't think the sale will be cut at all. In fact, even if it hits 95% when their supposed time limit is up, I would expect that they would just forward the bar to 100% and call the goal met. The progress bar itself is arbitrary imho. Used to heighten sense of urgency. Already we are nearly at 90%, and who knows how many copies that represents?
Only thing I don't like about messiah is the alt-middle mouse button quick key... totally jacks up perspective. I know it serves some purpose but after doing that a couple times and not figuring out how to put it back I had to disable those keys in the quick key control panel... with that said... if that's my only beef, holy poop I'm anxious to get 5.0

Nice suggestion!
Just made my "pro" offer.
Watching some videos, it seems you put just few bones and meshes are deformed like hot butter!
Another question: What is 'Point Animation' anyway?
I think an animation of vertices added to the classical bone animation.
You can adjust the result of the bone animation to balance some distortions or to exaggerate some effect like Hanna-Barbera style. Some animators get crazy about that.
Ugh, the last 20% of this is taking 80% of the time. I hope they see it's almost there and still go through with it. It's been stewing around in my brain ever since Friday.
You can even install Messiah itself onto it from what I've read to make it "portable", though this is definitely not required. I'm going to be installing to "C:\Program Files".
Yeap, I know, but sometimes I had to format my USB key because some apps/windows screwed things or I gave it to friend who has a not well protected computer.
So, I think it would be better to have a dedicated USB key just to use as dongle to avoid possible problems.
Anyway, that mechanism for licensing is scaring me!!!
dongles can be really great. Just install your software and go. I have a dongle for uvlayout and was worried about it. its turned out to be very very convenient. gone are the issues of 1 or 2 activations, you can only use it in 1 place at 1 time but your free to dictate when and where that is.
r_fletch_r ... did you end up picking up a copy of Messiah?
( wondering if you might be looking at hooking a plugin to UVLayout for
Messiah as well...:poly142: )
I assume the dongle is transferrable to another computer right? Because I don't plan to use this computer for ever. I can just unplug and go to another computer and I'm good correct?
But seriously, A dongle is a hardware key (usually USB) that needs to be plugged into a system to authorise software. The idea is, is that the license is usable on any system where you have a valid key plugged in.
good to know, r_fletch_r ... just thought you might already be relatively comfy with
the UVLayout side of things. I'd love to see it as a SetupTab store item, and gladly
add it to my shopping cart.

I'm gonna rig a model so hard if that bar reaches 100%
Those extra features like 64 bit, texture baking, and dynamics just might come in handy someday.

After you set up your USB "dongle" DO NOT EVER FORMAT IT as this will change it's hardware ID and cause the license the fail.
Oh and:

Interesting!
So I need of USB key to use ONLY as dongle, right?
You can store data on the USB "dongle".

Just don't format the USB device ever again.

What happens if you lose your dongle/it breaks? Surely there is a way to change the hardware ID.
Anyway, I don't think it's a problem at all, they will have a solution.

definitely no promises expected, tho.
EDIT: actually they are still selling at that price for another 7 hours.
