Ok guys my noobness with maya is unparalleled! but i have a client who needs me to use it so i need to get to grips pretty fast and i figured this was the place to come
![:) :)](https://polycount.com/plugins/emojiextender/emoji/twitter/smile.png)
Ok here's the deal... I have a weighted model i have been given that has "blend shapes" already assigned as well. I need to make several variations of this model. My first thought was to take the model into max and do some versions there as im accustomed to it and then bring those back into Maya but as the model has weighting and blend shapes this is going to be more trouble than it is worth i think.
The main problems i have (keep in mind iv never used Maya) are, (a) I cant select the model... no matter what i press i cant select the thing in the view port.. I can select some of the helpers that are set up around it for animation but not the actual mesh itself? anyone guess what i am missing?
Secondly The "blend shapes" as far as i am aware are just like morph targets in max... :S but they are not on screen and i cant seem to un-hide them. gah I'm a noob I know..
If anyone can help with this... Ill buy you a coffee!
Cheers in advance!

Thank you!
You need to activate the obj plugin in the plugin manager (windows>setting/preference> plug-in manager).
By the way, about your selection problem, did you checked if your object was frozen or in template mode : you can select the object in the outliner then check its attribute in the attribute editor(ctrl+a while you have your object selected).
Otherwise maybe the object is on a layer in template mode.
You can also go to (windows>outliner) to see the hiearchy of the scene, hidden object's text is greyed out so you can select them there and enable visibility.
About the selection stuff I can select it in the outliner ! which is a step in the right direction
Thanks
